How does a chocolate fountain work?
A chocolate fountain is a stainless steel piece of catering equipment that melts chocolate in a heated basin. A motor driven auger carries the chocolate up the cylinder to the top of the fountain where a warm curtain of chocolate cascades down and over the fountain tiers, giving the illusion of a chocolate waterfall.
What kind of chocolate is used in the fountain?
Luxury Belgian Couverture chocolate is used. We can offer you a choice of milk, dark or white chocolate. We can even tint the white chocolate a color.
What is Couverture Chocolate?
It is a special kind of chocolate that has more cocoa butter than 'normal' chocolate, anywhere from 33% to 38% for a really good brand. This type of chocolate is used as a coating for things like truffles ("couverture" is French for "covering").
How many people will a chocolate fountain serve?
We have small, medium or large fountains to handle any size crowd. More chocolate can be added for larger events. Or you can get multiple fountains with a different chocolate in each. We can customize to suit your needs.
Who provides the dipping foods?
Your caterer or event venue is often the best choice. Some places only allow us to bring in the chocolate. The dipping items are easy to obtain from Sam’s or Costco so you can get them yourself and our server will set them up for you. Or we can provide them for an additional fee.
What can I dip into the chocolate fountain?
We will provide you with a suggestion list. Crumbly foods are the only no-no as they break up and disturb the smooth flow of the fountain.
Can I use the chocolate fountain outdoors?
We recommend indoors, however it can be used outside under a covered screened lanai area. Remember bugs like chocolate too! If it is raining it should only be used indoors. Chocolate and water do not mix! Also remember a breeze can disrupt the flow of chocolate. It is preferable to be clear of air conditioning vents, ceiling fans, open windows, doors, or if on a lanai the wind.
Is the chocolate fountain difficult to set up, take down and clean?
The larger fountains all come with a server who takes care of that for you. The small, self service fountain, are very easy to set up, take down and clean. We provide you with a lesson prior to the rental.
Is there a time limit it can be used for?
No. Our standard hire period is 3 hours, though the chocolate fountain can run continuously for longer periods by adding more chocolate. If you would like an extended hire period, call to discuss your requirements.
What do I need to provide?
The chocolate fountain requires a sturdy level table (capable of supporting 100 pounds) with table linen, close to a power socket. We will provide the skewers. We will supply disposable plates and napkins for an additional fee. If you would prefer your guests to use desert plates either you or your caterer must provide them.
How far in advance do I book?
As soon as possible! Many people book well in advance so book early to avoid disappointment.
What area do you cover?
We are centrally located, for both Pinellas and Hillsborough counties, in Oldsmar on Tampa Road between Forest Lake Road and Racetrack Road.
What payment methods do you accept?
We accept cash, checks and all major credit cards. Payment must be paid in full 5 days prior to the scheduled rental. |
